CBSS Baltic 21 EcoRegion Conference 16 - 17 November 2011, Gdynia / Poland

Since early 2009, sector networks as well as numerous regions from around the Baltic Sea have jointly worked within the project EcoRegion to improve sustainable development at a regional level.
The project, led by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, is a Baltic 21 Lighthouse Project as well as a flagship project of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.

On 16-17 November 2011, the conference brought together regional practitioners, sectoral experts and policy makers to:
  • present and discuss the findings of the EcoRegion project
  • adopt the Gdynia Declaration with recommendations for future policy actions on sustainable development
  • promote the exchange of good practices in the BSR
  • Award the “Best EcoRegion Good Practice” to the Island and Coast Research Centre Arhipelaag (EE), represented by Toomas Kokovkin.
